St. Justin Martyr Catholic Parish is seeking a reliable, hardworking Janitorial Assistant to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across all parish buildings, including the church, school, and parish center. The Janitorial Assistant will work under the supervision of the Facilities Manager to ensure cleanliness, routine upkeep, and basic maintenance support for the parish campus.
Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and other parish facilities
Sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies
Set up and take down tables, chairs, and other equipment for events, meetings, and liturgies
Assist with cleaning and maintaining the church and sanctuary area (vacuuming pews, dusting, cleaning holy water fonts, etc.)
Notify supervisor of needed repairs or safety concerns
Support seasonal cleaning tasks such as window washing, carpet cleaning, or floor waxing
Maintain janitorial equipment and storage areas in an organized and safe manner
Assist with light outdoor duties such as sweeping entryways or salting sidewalks in winter
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Prior janitorial or custodial experience is a plus
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods, and using cleaning equipment
Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to follow instructions
Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of cleanliness
Respectful of the sacred nature of the church environment and committed to maintaining parish standards
